Spooky Tooth – That was only yesterday 1969

Spooky Tooth was an English progressive rock band from the late 1960s.

Band members in 1969:
Mike Harrison – keyboards, vocals
Gary Wright – organ, vocals
Luther (Luke) Grosvenor – guitar, vocals
Andy Leigh – bass, vocals
Mike Kellie – drums

(After Spooky Tooth’s split in 1974, Wright continued his solo career, culminating in “Dream Weaver.” The single peaked at No. 2 for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976, and went gold)

Lyrics:
Guess I’ll have to get out of this town
No sense in my waiting around
Only thing left for me here is pain
She’s gone for sure now why pretend
Left last night with a friend
Leaving not a word that would explain

That was only yesterday
But will I ever face tomorrow
She took away what I’d had
And returned it full of sorrow

That was only yesterday
Will I ever face tomorrow
She took away what I’d had
And returned it full of sorrow

I think I better find somewhere
A place where I won’t care
I need some time to hide my shame
Was only just one day ago
Found what I’d been searching for
Had left town on a late night train

And that was only yesterday
But will I ever face tomorrow
She took away what I’d had
And returned it full of sorrow

That was only yesterday
Will I ever face tomorrow
She took away what I’d had
And returned it full of sorrow
That was only yesterday
Will I ever face tomorrow
She took away what I’d had
And returned it full of sorrow

(Instrumental)

Three of this great band now gone, very sad. Shame about Mike, still sounded great just a few years ago.

Sadly, Gary Wright had left by then, leaving the remaining band to mime this track.

I loved this album when it came out and played it daily for months. It's still top notch music today!

I owe so much to this one clip.. -included in some DVD conpilation recvd at xmas; i looked at it ..-it looks like Harrison and Kellie are on downers.. -but theyre not. they look like a high-school garage band.. but this..country rock ballad had me hooked. -Tooth!
